Introduction
The Field Study Trip "The Baroque and Neo-Baroque in Argentina and Bolivia" is one of the activities of the Project "Global Baroque: transcultural and transhistorical approaches to Latin America", a continued partnership between the art history departments of the Federal University of Sao Paulo (Unifesp) and of the University of Zurich (UZH), into the "Connecting Art Histories" program of The Getty Foundation.
The second half of 2015 was dedicated to the preparation of the trip to Argentina and Bolivia, both conceptually and in practical ways. A selection was conducted to choose 10 students (undergraduate and graduate) for participation in the trip from the preparation of a research and development of activities surrounding the concepts of Baroque and Neo-baroque in Latin America focusing on these two countries. A discipline titled "Art History in South America" was organized by the Professor Jens Baumgarten and offered to the students of the department of art history.
Each student researched and selected an object of study to be presented on-site and about which produced an academic summary text in English. The topics were chosen from an initial program, which was afterward complemented by both Universities. The program includes a Workshop at Museo de la Inmigración, in Buenos Aires
This very original program that joins researchers, teachers and students from two continents has brought to all involved new perspectives from this unique experience and has strengthened their network.
